The Electric Transition

Electric vehicles seem poised to replace the internal combustion engine eventually.

It is not going to solve all of the world's pollution or climate problems but it will definitely change the everyday experience of living in cities.

Imagine quieter traffic and no exhaust while walking down the street.

Will we see this in the future? Will there be a period of uneven adoption?

Will electric vehicles become standard and combustion engines hobby vehicles and luxury items?

While it's not much of a plot point, it would make interesting world building.
